One of these days, I created a poll on my LinkedIn account. It asked my connections whether SEO is responsible for lead generation. As you can see, the majority of the participants answered yes. And yeah, I think that way, too.
There is no business in this world that does not need lead generation. Lead generation = more revenue & chance to scale your business up. And apart from those opinions, in fact, SEO is really responsible for your biz’s lead generation. I’ll tell you more: if you spend a lot of money on SEO and see no growth in your lead generation, then the best thing is to stop working with your SEO agency and find a more professional one.
Which approach is right? SEO for lead generation or SEO for only organic traffic?
SEO has a direct impact on a business’s sales funnel. Today, I’ll explain why this is so and how you can bring more leads to your business.
Today, I’ll explain what approach you should adopt and require from your outsourcing SEO agency.
What is Lead Generation?
As I mentioned, lead generation for the most significant part of business models is like air. Without a lead generation process, a business will sink into the ocean of competitors.
But let’s define lead generation:
“Lead generation refers to attracting and converting potential customers into leads – individuals who have expressed interest in your products or services and are likely to make a purchase or take some other desired action.”
Imagine a situation. You want to hire an SMM agency for your clothing brand. What’s the first thing you do? Right. You go to Google and put in the search bar SMM agency. You probably click on one of the websites on the first page. The moment you click on one of the search results, you become a lead for that agency (no matter whether you leave contact information or not).
So now the question. How did that website appear on the first page?
I have the answer. SEO. And I’ll explain how.
How SEO Can Help Your Biz or Understand SEO For Lead Generation
In 2023, SEO is mandatory for every business that has a website. Why? Just the fact that people go to the internet to find answers to their questions is enough to understand.
When someone can’t solve a problem by himself, they probably start finding the answer online. For example, a man wants to fix his sink’s plumbs but unfortunately cannot find a way to fix it.
So he goes to Google and searches “plumbing near me.” And he probably calls one of the first results to come and fix the plumb. You won’t believe it, but the beneficial business landed this sale thanks to correctly implemented SEO.
Obviously, there’s another channel to generate leads. We want to talk about both:
– Search Engine Optimization
Statistics say that SEO has the most impact on lead generation for B2B and B2C businesses. This means someone who wants to use only SEO for lead generation will get his leads.
SEO is a time-tested way, and it is the best choice to go. However, it takes more time, but the results are stable and quality.
– Various Channels to Generate Leads
When everyone uses social media, we can’t miss this chance. SMM is the way to generate leads through various social media channels (i.e., Instagram, TikTok).
And apart from SMM, there is an option that “ranks” your website in Google’s first spot. Google allows you to turn on ads for particular keywords. Then he takes money for each click you get.

Top 8 Tips to Generate Leads with SEO
There is a proven SEO strategy that can help you improve your Google rankings, thus increasing your leads.
1. Content Creation
Content is King. I’m sure you read this on X or maybe on LinkedIn. This does have a strong reason to be said.
Content is approved by Google as a ranking factor.
Quality content is the cornerstone of any successful SEO strategy. And anyone doing SEO should focus on this factor.
Although content does not guarantee an instant sale for your business, it brings potential customers to your website. So, if your content gives the desired value to its reader, then the conversion rate will be huge. Remember, your content should be ranking. This means you can’t just scratch a 1000-word blog and link to your landing page or book a call section.
Consider these key factors:
- Conduct thorough research to understand your target audience’s interests, preferences, and challenges.
- Start brainstorming ideas for your content.
- Strike a balance between providing valuable information and showcasing your expertise. Don’t oversell your product.
- Diversify your content and add infographics, images, or videos.
Don’t forget that Google loves websites that publish content regularly. Create a schedule and stick to that.
2. Don’t Neglect Link Building
Link building is an essential aspect of SEO. Good content is always getting backlinks from other websites. That is hinting at Google’s algorithms that your content is worthy of ranking better.
You can use various strategies to build backlinks, such as guest blogging and creating shareable content (i.e., infographics, statistics). And don’t forget about link diversification.
Link-building is yet another approved ranking factor. It used to be in the top 3 list, but after recent updates, Google announced that links are no longer in the top 3. But still, you should pay attention to this part of SEO. Make sure you have content that itself is “worthy of linking.”
3. Create a Clusterized List of Keywords
A well-researched and organized list of keywords is essential for effective SEO. Instead of focusing on individual keywords, consider creating clusters of related keywords. This allows you to optimize your website for a broader range of searches and attract a wider audience. Moreover, it makes even easier the process of keyword research.
By strategically incorporating keyword clusters into your website’s content, meta tags, and headings, you can improve your website’s ranking for multiple relevant searches. This boosts your visibility, attracting more potential leads to your site.
4. Optimize Your Website’s Speed
Website speed is an important factor that impacts UX and SEO. Slow-loading websites increase bounce rates. I personally bounce when a website does not have the load speed it should have. The slow speed of a website leads to missed lead-generation opportunities. I’m sure that you do not want to lose leads, so the best thing is to check it right now, and if improvements are needed, act right away.
Pro Tip: Use Lighthouse Extension to check your website’s speed
Therefore, optimizing your website’s speed is essential by compressing images, minifying code, and leveraging caching techniques. The extension will show you the issues and ways to fix them.
However, we still want to share with you some tips to increase your website speed:
- Optimize Images: Compress and resize images to reduce their file size while maintaining quality. Use modern image formats like WebP and serve appropriately sized images for different devices.
- Minimize HTTP Requests: Reduce the number of external resources (CSS, JavaScript, fonts) to minimize the number of HTTP requests. Combine and minify files when possible.
- Enable Browser Caching: Configure your server to set appropriate cache headers so that returning visitors can load your site faster by using cached content.
- Use Content Delivery Networks (CDNs): Utilize CDNs to distribute your website’s content across multiple servers globally, reducing latency and load times for visitors in different regions.
- Enable GZIP Compression: Enable GZIP or Brotli compression to reduce the size of text-based resources (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) transferred between the server and the browser.
- Reduce Server Response Time: Optimize your server’s performance by choosing a reliable hosting provider, using server-side caching, and minimizing database queries.
- Minimize Render-Blocking Resources: Load critical CSS and JavaScript in an asynchronous or deferred manner to prevent them from blocking the rendering of the page.
- Leverage Browser Caching: Set appropriate cache headers to instruct the browser to store static assets locally, reducing the need to re-download them with each visit.
- Implement Lazy Loading: Lazy load images and videos so that they load only when the user scrolls down to view them, reducing initial page load times.
- Monitor and Test: Regularly monitor your website’s performance using tools. Conduct performance testing to identify and address issues as they arise.
5. Pay Attention to On-Page SEO
On-page SEO refers to the optimization of individual web pages to improve their search engine ranking. This involves optimizing meta tags, headers, URLs, and internal linking structures.
Internal links are very part of on-page optimization. With the right anchors and inlinks you can navigate your leads to the final destination. But we’ll talk about this in the next section.

Additionally, incorporating target keywords naturally into your content and optimizing your headings and subheadings can further boost your SEO efforts and increase lead generation.
Well, on-page optimization guarantees you a better ranking position. Pay attention to the following:
- URL
- Title tag
- Meta description
- Heading tags
- Alt tags
- Keywords Density
- Content
- Size of the images
- Mobile-friendliness
6. Put the Right Inlinks on the Right Anchors
Internal linking is an often overlooked aspect of SEO, but it can significantly impact lead generation. Your content should be placed with relevant internal links. Meaning that the internal link should be put on the right anchor.
To understand, here are 2 examples:
Right Way
Suppose you have a blog post about “Healthy Eating Tips,” and you want to link to another relevant article on your website about “The Benefits of a Mediterranean Diet.” In this case, you should use descriptive anchor text that tells users and search engines exactly what the linked content is about:
<p>When trying to improve your diet, consider adopting a <a href=”/mediterranean-diet-benefits”>Mediterranean diet</a>. This approach offers numerous health benefits and is known for its delicious, nutritious foods.</p>
In this example, “Mediterranean diet” is the anchor text, and it’s descriptive, telling users and search engines that the link leads to an article about the benefits of a Mediterranean diet.
Wrong Way
Let’s say you have the same “Healthy Eating Tips” blog post, but this time, you link to the same “Mediterranean Diet Benefits” article with vague or non-descriptive anchor text.
<p>If you want to improve your eating habits, check out this <a href=”/mediterranean-diet-benefits”>click here</a> for a great article.</p>
In this example, “click here” is uninformative anchor text. It doesn’t tell users or search engines anything about the linked content, making it less user-friendly and less SEO-friendly.
Using descriptive and relevant anchor text is essential for both user experience and search engine optimization, as it helps users understand where the link will take them. Additionally, it triggers the reader’s interest. The longer a reader stays on your website, the bigger the chances to land a sale.
When search engines crawl your site and find well-optimized internal links, they can easily navigate and index your pages, improving your website’s overall visibility. This, in turn, increases your chances of generating more leads.
7. Keep Your Enemies Near
If, by any chance, your competitor ranks better than your website, it means they are ahead of you. They probably do better SEO and, of course, rank better.
But this does not mean that you should panic. Instead, take the great opportunity to research their strategy. Learn how to do competitor research here.
First, determine who your competitors are.
Understand the content gaps (content your competitors rank/ publish and you don’t).
Check the keywords they rank for. Make sure you include those keywords in your keyword list.
Understand what other channels your competitors use to sell their products.
While competition is fierce in the online business world, keeping an eye on your competitors can actually benefit your lead generation efforts. Don’t hate them, learn from them!
By learning from your competitors’ successes and failures, you can adapt and refine your own SEO strategy, helping you generate more leads and stay ahead of the competition.
8. Hire Us to Generate More Leads for Your Biz
If you find implementing an effective SEO strategy overwhelming or time-consuming, hiring an SEO agency to run these procedures is best. Although you have to spend some money on that, but you’ll get guaranteed results that’ll bring you more leads.
